I have a dark calling that puts me above the law
Background: Haunted One
Harrowing Event: Jinto was born under a dark star. He feels it watching him, coldly and distantly. Sometimes it beckons him in the dead of night.
Ideal: I have a dark calling that puts me above the law
Bond: Long had a courious reoccuring dream, about visiting a vaulted stone library in the depths of the underdark, and becoming lost in the endless lore it holds
Flaw: I assume the worst in people.
1. I expect danger around every corner.
2. I put no trust in divine beings.
Heart of Darkness: Those who look into your eyes can see that you have faced unimaginable horror and that you are no stranger to darkness. Though they might fear you, commoners will extend you every courtesy and do their utmost to help you. Unless you have shown yourself to be a danger to them, they will even take up arms to fight alongside you, should you find yourself facing an enemy alone.
Jinto is a orphan. His birth is a mystery to him, yet members of his village have described the night of his birth as a terrible event. Every 100 years the dark star passes overhead. It was this night that a strange terror appeared, entering the town and eventually his parents home. The events of what happened next are nothing but rumours, though it is said that the demon attacked his parents while his mother was giving birth. The fiend, they say, is the one who pulled Jinto from his mother womb before being fought off by the town guard. But rumours are rumours and these days they don’t concern Jinto that much, though his nightmares have never gone away, he keeps to himself and has tried to forget. Eventually when Jinto turned 18 he left his town to find work in Neverwinter. “A fresh start” he said as he left but he’s never been able to shake the feeling that he is being watched.
Jinto’s time in Neverwinter started out uneventful. Jinto performed at small taverns to earn his keep. His grandfather taught him how to play several instruments, he liked them all but nothing called to him like the Viol. The music seemed to calm him and help him sleep. After a year he began to wonder about his past. If a fiend actually did kill his parents, what kind of fiend was it? Why would it do that and spare his life? Jinto was now determined to understand the mystery of his birth. It was in the library of Neverwinter that he met his mentor, a elf named Agis Sontar. Agis helped Jinto with his research, guiding him along his journey.
Jinto spent six years with Agis. Pouring through the collection of books and scrolls. Last week Agis had arranged for Jinto to travel with a caravan heading north to Mhilamniir in the High Forrest. It was hear Jinto was to collect a book on demons from the elves.
